Drew's experience of over 40 years in law enforcement gives him the insight needed to understand the challenges our police and fire personnel face as they work to protect Clovis.

Local government should be transparent, accountable, and careful with taxpayer dollars. Drew believes that common sense governance is one of the reasons Clovis has been successful. While Drew will speak about national and state topics publicly, he will avoid bringing these issues into the Council Chambers whenever possible unless there is a direct link to a Clovis-specific issue. Our focus should be on public safety, good roads, clean parks and trails, and all the other things our citizens expect their local government to do. Sometimes, your Council will have to make decisions that you don't agree with. I understand that, and when I have to make a decision that is controversial I will explain why I am making that decision. You may end up a little mad at me but you will always understand why I felt the need to vote in the manner I did. That's an element in Lincoln's "public opinion bath."

Small businesses are the heart of our city. Having small businesses and larger ones we can get the mix of goods and services we all want. Drew will cut red tape whenever possible, recruit out of town businesses, and help entrepreneurs open, grow, and hire right here at home. Drew will support businesses, big and small, and work to make it easier for them to open and stay open. As Mayor during the first year of COVID, Drew worked hard to reopen Clovis and lobbied State officials, including the Governor, to ease the restrictions placed on small businesses while allowing big businesses to stay open.

From parks to neighborhood events, Drew is committed to a city that brings people together and where families can put down roots for generations. That means working to strengthen our older neighborhoods so young families will be able to buy their first homes and grow with our community. We need to make “the Clovis Way of Life” affordable for our children and later generations too.

Clean streets, well-kept parks and trails, and reliable services aren't extras — they're the foundation of a great city. Drew will push to add additional trails in our older neighborhoods in SW Clovis, and he understands that quality of life begins with a safe community.

Our city is growing — and growth must be planned, thoughtful, and true to who we are. District 5 will be the next growth area of Clovis. The “Heritage Grove” planned area will bring mixed types of housing, commercial growth, and trails and parks. We need to ensure we have planned and common-sense growth that strengthens neighborhoods, not overwhelms them.
